Right lads, we are getting closer to the next race. Hope it lives up to the previous one.
Wanted to get your opinions on who you think is the next big thing from the current grid?
For me Max and Leclerc are far out ahead In terms of talent when compared to the other young drivers.
Is Lando good enough to challenge them in the near future or do you see someone like Russell or Mick or even Yuki able put up the fight?
Personally I think this is a big year for Lando, if he can beat Danny Ric or match his performances, he would have proven his worth.

{Ed001's Note - Russell and Yuki are next imo. Mick will have such a big shadow cast over him by his dad it is unfair to expect much from him. I think Lando will be like Danny Ric, in terms of being a top driver, but not quite a world champion. Put either of them in another series and they dominate, but F1 is the best of the best.}

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Apr 2021 15:46:15
Can't disagree mate. However I feel Russell needs a move to a better team soon. Will Mercedes give him his chance. I thought in 2021 the Mercedes seat would be his. He can't keep waiting around forever.

{Ed001's Note - isn't it Bottas's last year with them? In which case Russell will be a shoo-in for the speck there.}

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Apr 2021 16:21:33
Oh, I didn't know that. Feel kinda sad for Bottas. He did not have a chance against Hamilton. Didn't have the competitive nature of Rosberg to compensate for the clear difference in talent either. Would be exciting to see Russell in Mercedes though.

{Ed001's Note - Bottas made his choice and chose the money over personal pride, so I have no sympathy.}

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Apr 2021 10:36:57
This is like another season break honestly!

{Ed001's Note - it is a long gap. I have a feeling that they will put more races in for next season so there won't be the gaps. Though we will then have the drivers whining about how hard it is for the poor dears. Strange how they find one race weekend every couple of weeks such hard work but other racing drivers will drive about 20 races a day at Goodwood. In the 60s etc the drivers would be doing multiple race series a year and so jumping from car to car. They never found it to be too mentally tiring and it was much more physical then without power steering. Modern day drivers are spoilt.}

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Apr 2021 12:28:51
It does seem in sports the more money involved the more prima Donnas we get.
But I bet the rookies wouldn't complain racing every week.

{Ed001's Note - exactly and what do the drivers do the moment they retire from F1? They go and join as many other racing series as they can! I do have a lot of sympathy with the mechanics and engineers who actually do work incredibly long hours and very hard. But not the drivers.}

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Apr 2021 18:05:48
Yea I've heard the mechanics and engineers don't get to enjoy the country's they're at, from the day they arrive till the end of race on Sunday it's build the garage etc then dismantle it.
Its really nice to see Lando and George help with the dismantle to feel closer to the team.

{Ed001's Note - those two I like a lot as drivers because they do build a relationship with the engineers. That is something Hamilton did very well too, it is part of the edge he has over the rest, the garage wants him to win on a personal level. Unlike some others in recent years, such as Fernando Alonso.}

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Apr 2021 18:16:17
Only other person Incan think of that the engineers feel that way about is Danny ric.

{Ed001's Note - Schumacher snr was another.}

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Apr 2021 19:59:51
Hopefully Schumacher jnr is the same, it's easier to like a driver when they seem more down to earth less prima Donna like.

{Ed001's Note - agreed, I think that is why so many people hate Hamilton because they think he is flash. Image plays a big part and his is aimed at the USA.}

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Apr 2021 16:10:54
Aren't most elite athletes flash though mate? I think the hate towards Hamilton is more to do with the fact that he keeps winning and that riles people for some reason.
The most normal bloke on the whole grid, atleast from what I see on TV seems to Danny ric.
Personally, I love Kimi. Dude has hilarious radio conversations😂.

{Ed001's Note - you may have a point there truered. I am with you on those.}

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2021 19:26:45
Its Going to be a loooong three weeks.

{Ed001's Note - it's only two now mate. Two from tomorrow anyway.}

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2021 19:05:42
Here was me thinking max had matured by giving up the place he gained illegally.
"Why didn't you just let me go man, I could have easily pulled back those five seconds, I prefer to lose a win like that, than be second like this"
Didn't hear that on the radio Sunday.

{Ed001's Note - I did say he wanted to take the five seconds, that's why I hate that penalty. It is not a deterrent.}

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2021 19:07:55
Think I lost that in the shock we had someone else posting 😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - I had to double-take and check I wasn't seeing things myself!}

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2021 19:16:42
Was thinking the would have to be changed to ed and daviepool talk nonsense page.

{Ed001's Note - there is already a radiostation with a name that seems to have a similar kind of meaning. Except it isn't just exclusively for us to talk nonsense on that...}

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2021 19:32:19
Well that's just not fair!

{Ed001's Note - we will just have to stick with F1 page for now.}

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2021 08:46:02
Haha, sorry for being the third wheel guys. Guess you guys will have to live with it😅
To think I've been going through the Liverpool pages for almost a decade and had no idea there is an f1 page.

{Ed001's Note - nice to have you aboard mate, I was beginning to think Davie was a figment of my imagination and there was no F1 page myself....}

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2021 10:44:07
Always happy to have Another onboard the crazy Train.

{Ed001's Note - it's not a true crazy train if you aren't saying "Choo-Choo" while typing that....}

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2021 10:58:35
Whoo whoo!

{Ed001's Note - I bet you did the arms as well! Or it might just be me who did that...}

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 18:44:21
The argument, to which I subscribe, is you cannot call one permissible and the other not. If you’re allowed to run there alone it’s part of the track and you can pass there. If you can’t pass there it’s not part of the track and driving on it should be penalised at all times.
Will Buxton tweeted this and I kinda agree.

{Ed001's Note - I do agree, except they did start giving out warnings for running on it partway through the race. So it is still just down to the officials being wishy-washy on enforcement, rather than it being allowed. In my opinion, the officials just hadn't been watching for it until Red Bull brought it to their attention by telling Verstappen to use it as Hamilton was doing so. It was just after that they gave Hamilton the warning.}

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 18:58:02
I think that's the frustrating part I don't blame Hamilton as he even said to bono that he'd been doing it all race why now? .
The fact the stewards were lazy it's caused this confusion of the rules .
Either allow it or enforce it from the start.

{Ed001's Note - exactly. The ironic thing is that Red Bull complained about it and then it cost them when it mattered. But it should not have needed a complaint. It is a pet hate of mine when watching races to be honest. There is no point setting out a track if cars are not going to adhere to it, I mean going outside is only a step away from cutting across the middle and missing out a whole chunk of the lap. You should either follow the track as it is laid out or be penalised.}

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 19:09:47
Its a brundle said at the weekend stop involving the drivers . If they do that they'll start using the medical car shortcut. Drivers will always make their own lines so stamps it out .
And I agree.

{Ed001's Note - fully agree. If they could get away with it they would cut every corner on the track. I don't understand why drivers and manufacturers are involved in rule-making anyway. They should just abide by the rules, not choose them. Rules should always be set by an independent body. And that goes for any sport or game.}

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 09:11:18
There are some salty Lewis Hamilton haters on twitter this morning.
People who don't seem to understand the rules of overtaking off track.

{Ed001's Note - some people just don't like him and I don't know why, no matter what he does he gets grief for it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 11:27:36
I agree Hamilton was good yesterday and the win was well deserved. However I'm more pissed at the match direction. The rules regarding track limits need to be black and white, there can't be a grey area. Lewis did gain an advantage by constantly going wide at turn 4 for multiple laps. In my view that did allow him to improve his times a tenth of a second every lap.
The race however was lost by a mixture Verstappens over eagerness and redbulls risky late pit strategy. The lad should have waited a a little while longer before making his move. He didn't need to do it at turn 4.
PS: Given that finally redbull have a bloody fine second driver, the contructor title is redbulls to lose given how much of a poor driver Bottas is. Hamilton vs Verstappen is close. Bottas vs Checo is going only one way.

{Ed001's Note - the rules regarding track limits are black and white. It is, as usual, the application of the rules that causes the problems. The track limits should be adhered to at every corner on every track, but the stewards are lazy and allow certain corners to become 'negotiable'. The overtake is a different thing, they always enforce that and Verstappen knew that, he was just hoping they would simply give him a 5 second time penalty instead. Personally I don't think they should ever give a 5 second penalty unless it is the final lap or the driver doesn't have a chance to give the place back. There have been a number of races a driver has managed to gain extra points by overtaking off the track and just taking the 5 second penalty, as gifting the place back costs the 5 seconds plus you then have to overtake all over again.}

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2021 12:48:20
Agreed on the 5 sec penalt. That's just useless, if the guy overtaking has fresher tyres and has enough time to extend the lead.
One thing's for sure, Verstappen is going mature a hell of a as a driver.
Also a slot out to Leclerc, he looks good.

{Ed001's Note - it is going to be good to see the Leclerc/Verstappen rivalry grow in the future.}

{Ed001's Note - it just looks so wrong and thank you.}

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 20:17:26
What a race!

{Ed001's Note - it was one of the best ever. Incredible from start to finish, but so many people are just going to look at the result and not bother watching.}

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 20:43:34
My heart was racing those last few laps this is what we've been missing I don't care that Hamilton won but it was close! More of this please!

{Ed001's Note - it is probably a good thing for the rest of the season that he did, as the Red Bull looks faster.}

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 20:50:43
Even the rest of the cars were fun to watch!

{Ed001's Note - I thought the midfield pack was the best bit.}

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 21:07:10
Honestly I haven't seen a race weekend like it! All three f2 races were amazing and the F1 from qualy to race has been outstanding!

{Ed001's Note - let's hope it was just a taste of what is to come.}

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2021 12:57:57
That's f2 feature race was fantastic. why haven't I watch f2 before is so exciting.

{Ed001's Note - often the support races are better. Personally I think BTCC is still the best racing around, though the Aussie Supercar series pushes it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Mar 2021 20:29:24
If you get a chance watch the f2 sprint race 2 if you haven't was fantastic!

{Ed001's Note - I will have a look if it is on youtube or something.}

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Mar 2021 20:46:08
The highlights are on the F1 YouTube.

{Ed001's Note - I will take a look if I get some spare time. I haven't watched F2 in years.}

VERSTAPPEN ON POLE . I REPEAT VERSTAPPEN ON POLE!

{Ed001's Note - by a decent margin as well. Good to see it looks very competitive, even Alpha Tauri look capable of getting podiums and Ferrari look decent too.}

27 Mar 2021 16:08:53
I'm so excited for this season!

{Ed001's Note - it does look like it is going to be good.}

Since fp2 is the closest to qualy my god I hope it's accurate.
Verstappen
Norris
Verstappen
I'll take that.

{Ed001's Note - Verstappen first and third? That would surely be cheating.}

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 17:38:29
😂😂😂 even my phone thinks he's always third 😂😂
Verstappen
Norris
Hamilton.

{Ed001's Note - that is one hell of an autocorrect!}

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 06:00:56
Its season opener day!
My sky planner is brimming with F1 and f2 content waiting to record!

{Ed001's Note - who do you think is going to win? I think this is going to be Red Bull's to lose, the aero changes clearly do not suit low rake angle cars.}

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 10:41:59
I would love McLaren to get some podiums this year but can't see Past mercedes, red bull are quick but mercedes have a knack of pulling out something.

{Ed001's Note - that's true, but this year they might just have got it wrong.}

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 11:40:07
Watching free practice. Hamilton .336s faster than Perez awaiting verstappen time.

{Ed001's Note - you would expect the Mercs first team to beat the Green Mercs, but that new Honda engine has taken a major step forward they reckon.}

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 11:43:05
Bottas quicker than Hamilton now .471 quicker than checo. but verstappen .118 quicker than bottas!

{Ed001's Note - Bottas has been quicker than Hamilton all preseason, maybe Lewis has taken his eye off the ball and lost his hunger?}

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 11:48:10
Lewis just went purple in sectors 1 +2 and green on sector 3 . this season is going to be interesting for sure noris and Ricardo 4th and 5th fastest vettle can only muster 7th so far.

{Ed001's Note - Norris is the one I am looking forward to seeing this season. It is a big one for him.}

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2021 12:32:02

Hamilton top 4!

I'm determined Netflix got involved with all the drama that happened.
With everything that happened it can't possibly be as exciting can it?

{Ed001's Note - they are doing a new documentary this season, so maybe....}

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2021 10:50:04
That felt good this morning, kimis blink and miss it 1:12 lap 🤣🤣.

{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen it, what was that?}

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2021 11:45:26
It was a mistake and was scored off but somehow Kimi was recorded going round at 1:12 when the fastest time was recorded at 1:35 🤣.

{Ed001's Note - damn he is going to be one to watch then with that kind of pace!! It does make you wonder how reliable timing is during the race.}

This is during a sandstorm.
Mercedes haven't set a time.

{Ed001's Note - seems like it could be a close season.}

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2021 13:57:29
Verstappen pulled a 1:31 out his bum and hasn't been able to match it.
But tsunoda looks really good out there, best out of the three rookies.

{Ed001's Note - WIlliams looking like they are up for it?}

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2021 16:09:44
Roy nissany was their reserve driver was given the full day so won't know until tomorrow.
But the fact they in my opinion wasted a day of an already shorter testing weekend speaks volumes.

{Ed001's Note - that is odd for a team in their position.}

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2021 16:44:09
I do wonder if like Haas they've said this season's a bogey and will focus on the 2022 car, I kinda like the thinking if you know your going to be at the arse end of the grid why not focus fully on the 2022 car and get an extra almost year of development,

{Ed001's Note - true, they have just sorted out a new set up, so it could take time to bear fruit.}

12 Mar 2021 17:23:25
I find it hard to believe him after the Twitter nonsense in 2019. The "planned coup" of the board trying to oust him.

12 Mar 2021 18:52:39

{Ed001's Note - I like the colour scheme, reminds me very much of the old JPS specials. Not so keen on the car, I prefer the Merc-style nose, not keen on those one with the odd sticky-out bit in the middle. It looks ugly.}

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2021 12:17:11
Far too much to go into detail about rich but I genuinely think he's all talk with the F1 entry as the only cars left to launch if I'm right is Ferrari (definitely not) and Williams can't see them taking that Money.

Suppose it all depends on how much the parents of Mick and Nikita plow into Haas, they've abandoned this season's car already focusing on 2022.

Yea by the looks of the grid only Hamilton, Russell and riciardio are the only ones without rich daddys.
