What did people make of the sprint race? Personally I thought it was too long. And effectively became a procession as per the races.
All the action was in the first few laps. So I'd make it a 5 to 7 lap race. The cars would have barely any fuel, could all stick on the softs and push the cars and tyres to the absolute limit. Admittedly wouldn't last long but I think it would have more action then a 17 lap race.
When I looked, the Hass' cars were 40 seconds behind, hardly keeps it interesting.
{Ed001's Note - I got my times mixed up and missed it. Judging by what I read it was not a big miss!}

Perez got his move! I can’t wait to see how he does in the red bull and max has an experienced driver to keep him on his toes!
Feel bad for Albion but it’s a no brainer when a driver like Perez is available.
What do you make of the move ed001?
{Ed001's Note - had to be done, he was the best available option and I think he will give Verstappen a fright.}

ed001, what do you make of Vettles move to Aston/ racing point?
He is obviously a bigger name then perez, but the way he has been treated, being axed by text is a bit sour for me. Perez has done well in the merc of last year and deserved better imo. Obviously Stroll is safe as houses with his dad as the owner and if he wasn't that lucky he would be the one to go.
Plus vettle looks to have lost his mojo so I think I would of stuck with perez personally.
{Ed001's Note - it does look like a huge mistake. Though he might well rediscover his fire with the way he is being treated by Ferrari. That is their only hope really, is that he is driven by bitterness. Other than that, it looks a crazy decision. For both parties to be honest. Why would you want to join a team owned by the father of your teammate? He is clearly going to be favoured with better equipment and get the pick of the strategies etc.
It must be pointed out, Perez was only there initially because of the sponsorship he brings with him, which gave them money to go racing. So he was always likely to be pushed out of the door once they no longer needed that money.}

Didn’t know that about Perez, but it’s a shame he's leaving he’s doing wonders for my fantasy f1 team so hope it doesn’t effect him.
I think vettle has been broken by merc and Hamilton. I feel that Aston want him for the name and he’s gone as it’s the best offer he was going to get. I do think it’s destined for tears. And I can’t see them competing much higher up the grid then their current efforts.
As for Perez wonder where he will end up, potentially Indy which seems to be where a host of past f1 drivers end up.
{Ed001's Note - someone will take Perez as he brings good sponsorship. Good driver too, so he is not just a pay driver unlike some.}

I don't know where is available though ed001, I think it was only Haas and alfa that have space and he is better then that. Itll be a shape if he has to take a drop down the grid at the expense of vettle.
Hopefully vettle proves me wrong and he is a success. Personally I think he will be battling with Mclaren for the best of the rest behind red bull next season.
{Ed001's Note - both Ferrari-engined teams, which is a bit of a problem as that is the worst engine now they have blocked off the avenue for them to cheat. However with him being backed by Carlos Slim's billions, he could turn them into a competitive team.}

Anyone see the incidents in P1? a loose drain cover destroying the williams, then a bridge having the audacity to get in the way of the recovery truck, then pouring its hydraulic fluid all over the Williams?
Luckily we can laugh about them but the drain cover could of caused serious injury!
{Ed001's Note - that is madness, but it is what happens with street circuits. They have to have special covers to cope with the downforce ripping them up.}

Don't they normally weld them? either way just glad the driver got away ok. Can't say the same for the car.
On a seperate note, when are you managing to get away from editing to see Endgame? I am off to see it tonight but the hardest part will be not being able to talk about it for a few weeks to avoid spioling it for others!
{Ed001's Note - they do, but it weakens over time. It is just a part of street racing the added dangers, but that is why they are so exciting.
I saw Endgame last night mate. Unfortunately it started just as I thought 'I need a pee' and I spent the next 3 hours trying not to wet meself! It hurt so much by the end, I am just glad there is no end title sequence so I could run for the bog the second they started!!!}

Alonso has the second part of his triple crown, just Indy left. I would love to see him win the f1 championship again but think he will leave the sport at the end of the year which would be a shame. Can’t blame him though, he is a quality driver who wants to win races.
1.) 24 Jun 2018 19:32:57
The way he drove today makes it look like he has had enough and wants out.
2.) 29 Jun 2018 16:16:39
Just seen this ed001, i'm of the same opinion that he is off at the end of the season which is gutting. But I think he will go full time indy and try be a super triple crown winner,
F1 champ,
Endurance champ
Indy champ (and winning indy500 in the process).
{Ed001's Note - I think you are right, I think he will try and win all 3 world titles.}

Slate, being the fastest driver/fastest car doesn't guarantee a win. Just like football otherwise man city would never lose.
The issue is, did Masi bend the rules under pressure from Horner.
Normally under the safety car, lapped cars would join the back of the grid, they would then be another lap before the safety car pits. If that happened today Ham would win and the race would finish behind the safety car.
Crucially in the rules it stipulates it is under the race directors discretion when it comes in. And that overrides the above rule. Effectively covering their ass. And for that reason I'm not too sure what Merc can appeal.
Moving forward it needs ironing out and the race directors role needs to be black and white. However, today as the rules sit, I think its Max's race and dragging it all out only tarnishes the sport further imo.
Football learnt from mistakes with goal line tech and vAR. F1 needs to do the same here to Improve for the future.

It looks like a bad decision but within Mercs protest being thrown out it ultimately comes down to the race director to decide when the safety car comes in.
Within the report it appears all the teams requested that where possible, the race was to finish within race conditions.
Contentious decision but I think if you start overturning results it could open up a huge can of worms.
For instance, city got a pen yesterday that wasn't a pen, if city win the league do Liverpool and Chelsea appeal because by the rules they wouldn't of won?
The whole race director role needs reforming 100% and bosses shouldn't be able to talk to the ref effectively mid race, its like klopp getting in VAR's ear when a decision goes against him. But for me you cannot overturn it, Max didn't do anything wrong and changing results isn't the way forward imo.

I don't know if they take it into consideration but I thought the 10 seconds was fair.
The red flag effectively gave hamilton a free pit stop to fix the car due to the incident. If the race wasn't red flagged I think it would of been called a racing incident as Hamilton would have been penalised enough having to pit to fix the cars damage.
