Interesting qualifying today. Checo made a hash of it, really disappointed. I'm sure he'll bounce back.
But Leclerc, my god is he a beast. Dude needs to be in a top of the field car challenging.
Good to see Danny ric getting there.

{Ed001's Note - surprising to see Hamilton get his 100th pole, the track does not favour the low rake cars, hence why Aston's upgrades couldn't get them into Q3.}

That may be true mate, but mercedes are amazing at developing their car over the course of the season. So they might just be getting peak performance out of it by now.
Also they have Hamilton mate, he'll get every last inch out of that car, and Bottas is amazing at quali isn't he.
Will be interesting to see how they perform tomorrow though.

{Ed001's Note - I doubt they have managed to develop it much yet, I would think it is more about set up and driver giving them the winning combination.}

Right guys, thoughts on the sprint qualifying?
I think it might turn out to be exciting.

truered2

{Ed001's Note - I like the idea, though I would prefer the grids more mixed up, with the faster ones at the back.}

1.) 28 Apr 2021 07:52:57
Exact same as ed I'm happy they're trying something new, but if the grid was set up like F2 the top 10 reverse for the main race would be more interesting.

{Ed001's Note - that's the issue, they are giving all the advantages to the fastest cars, which is detrimental to the racing. Until they figure out that it doesn't work to promote close racing unless grids are mixed up, nothing will change. Though it must be said, so far it has not been so bad this season.}

Right lads, we are getting closer to the next race. Hope it lives up to the previous one.
Wanted to get your opinions on who you think is the next big thing from the current grid?
For me Max and Leclerc are far out ahead In terms of talent when compared to the other young drivers.
Is Lando good enough to challenge them in the near future or do you see someone like Russell or Mick or even Yuki able put up the fight?
Personally I think this is a big year for Lando, if he can beat Danny Ric or match his performances, he would have proven his worth.

truered2

{Ed001's Note - Russell and Yuki are next imo. Mick will have such a big shadow cast over him by his dad it is unfair to expect much from him. I think Lando will be like Danny Ric, in terms of being a top driver, but not quite a world champion. Put either of them in another series and they dominate, but F1 is the best of the best.}

1.) 12 Apr 2021 15:46:15
Can't disagree mate. However I feel Russell needs a move to a better team soon. Will Mercedes give him his chance. I thought in 2021 the Mercedes seat would be his. He can't keep waiting around forever.

{Ed001's Note - isn't it Bottas's last year with them? In which case Russell will be a shoo-in for the speck there.}

2.) 12 Apr 2021 16:21:33
Oh, I didn't know that. Feel kinda sad for Bottas. He did not have a chance against Hamilton. Didn't have the competitive nature of Rosberg to compensate for the clear difference in talent either. Would be exciting to see Russell in Mercedes though.

{Ed001's Note - Bottas made his choice and chose the money over personal pride, so I have no sympathy.}

3.) 15 Apr 2021 18:42:00
I'm in agreement with ed Yuki and russle.
Yuki is going to be an absolute star.
The fact that mid race he watched how Alonso took corners and then adopted it to climb up the pack is absolutely astounding!

{Ed001's Note - that is a bit special, the kind of thing Schumacher used to do.}

Definitely one of the better races at Barcelona. Redbull needed Checo up there to have a chance.
Mercedes are very strong, overall a way better run team.

Interesting, so in Barcelona the cars should be closer.
Slightly off topic but well done to utd fans for delaying the game, could watch the race till the end 😏.

truered2

{Ed001's Note - yes, it is possible RB will be a fair bit quicker, hence the desperation for the fastest lap point.}

Mazepin is not ready for F1. There should be a way super license points should be reduced for being overall a very poor driver. He is not even able to challenge his teammate.
All said and done, that was a mega drive from Hamilton. Bottas bottled it again. Perez horrible start to the race.
Not sure why mercedes looked so much better this week. Was it this particular track or they've gone back to form?

truered2

{Ed001's Note - the track favours the low-rake as it is mainly about mechanical grip rather than aero grip. It is downforce that they have lost out on with the changes.}

Yup, winds seemed to be huge factor today. Shoutout to Russell though, great performance today.
I'm predicting tough race tomorrow if the conditions remain same. Ver, Ham, Per in the podium tomorrow not in any specific order. Bottas will eventually screw up his race, somehow always does. Never converts his quali poles.

truered2

{Ed001's Note - be interesting to see if the Mercs actually are the quicker car on this track or if it was just they coped better with the wind.}
