I know there is a genuinely exciting battle for the titles between ferrari and mercedes drivers but the races themselves are not exactly exciting still. It is becoming a game of chess, rather than a race. Pit stops are the key, as no one can actually overtake on the track.

Too much downforce taking the advantage of being in the slip stream away. I agree it's not as exciting. I like the drivers are saying the cars are more physically demanding and more fun to drive, but for the viewer it doesn't change much. Is there an answer? DRS hasn't really worked as expected. Wider tracks? Trail and error with downforce, engines etc maybe.

{Ed001's Note - wider tracks, narrower cars and less downforce would all help. Things like DRS should not be needed, just got to make it so the cars can get close enough to use a proper slipstream to overtake.

Personally I would like to see old fashioned gearboxes too, so drivers can get the wrong gear or struggle to get it into gear, though I understand that is not going to happen.

Oh another thing that would make a significant difference is worse brakes, so they have a much bigger braking zone, allowing more opportunity to overtake.}

I'd like to see them keep experimenting until they get it right. Any opinions on what's going to happen with Torro Rosso/Red Bull? Carlos Sainz is on his way up, but who is going to leave Red Bull if they want to keep him? Maybe one of Ricciardo or Verstappen to Ferrari?

{Ed001's Note - it did look like that would happen in the summer. Verstappen and Ricciardo have a lot of friction between them, so I would expect one to move on at the end of the season. Ferrari looks the most likely, though Kimi always seems to raise his game when it looks like he will be going.}

Apparently they're favouring Vettel also and Kimi Isn't too happy about that. It will be interesting to see what engine and other changes will come in in 2020 after the meeting the teams had. Red Bull saying they want a non manufacturer power unit option.

{Ed001's Note - there should always be options available in terms of power units and other parts to make it possible to build a midfield race car using off the shelf components. The cars should not have such a huge spread of quality, they should be much closer so that the driver makes more of a difference.

I can't see Kimi staying in F1 much longer.}
